  • Can I change or undo an import?

No, an import is not reversible.

  • Does Marketype save import files?

MarketHype does not store your files, so make sure to save them if needed in the future.

  • Can I delete an import from the overview list?

No. All imports are visualized and can't be deleted from the overview. That way, you can enter a previous import to find out how the contacts were imported - to what subscription type and with what consent.

  • Can a contact be imported several times?

Yes, a contact can enter MarketHype several times (via manual imports, integrations, and signup forms).

  • Can a contact be imported to several subscription types?

Yes, a contact can be part of several subscription types.

Note that if a contact has several email addresses and phone numbers, each can be part of different subscription types, have different consents, and have different opt-in dates.

  • What format does the file need to be in?

The supported file format is .csv. If having another format, export your file and choose .csv.

  • Why does the file need to have column headers at the top?

The first row in each import file is automatically withdrawn as values to ensure no unnecessary data enters MarketHype.

It is used in the ”map columns” step during the import process to help you determine what file column should be mapped to what attribute in MarketHype.

  • What if I don't have the opt-in date?

The opt-in date is crucial as MarketHype requires it to keep track of who you are permitted to contact for marketing purposes. Therefore, you must indicate the opt-in date for each import you perform.

For example, if you are importing a list containing event customers and their opt-in dates are missing (in this case, their order date), we recommend setting the opt-in date to the sales start date. This way, all customers will have the earliest available opt-in date associated with that particular import.

  • When should I use Freely given and Legitimate Interest as the legal basis?

A consent given with the legal basis of "freely given" is an explicit consent. This means that the contact has actively given consent, for example, by signing up through a newsletter form or explicitly accepting marketing during a purchase checkout.

Consents given on the "legitimate interest" basis are implicit consents where the contact did not actively give you consent but showed an interest in you or your organization by buying a product from you, for instance.

  • Can I Import my own contact attributes?

Yes, in addition to the standard attributes, you have the opportunity to create custom attributes based on your organization's needs. Read more about custom attributes here.

  • What attributes are available by default?

    • First name

    • Last name

    • Email

    • Phone number

    • Address

    • Zip code

    • City

    • Country

    • Gender
