Time changes, and contacts' interests sometimes change with it, which could lead to them sadly wanting to unsubscribe from receiving information from you and revoking their consent.

If a contact contacts you and wants to opt-out, you can always unsubscribe them manually by entering Audience β†’ Manage. But if you have several contacts, you can opt them out all at once by importing them using the import feature.

Step 1: Choose the type of import

Start by clicking on Imports β†’ Create import.

Then, you must choose whether you want to import Contacts or an Opt-out list; click on Opt-out list. You'll find a guide here if you want to learn more about importing Contacts.

Step 2: Select the file

In the next step, you add your list via the drag-and-drop function or by using click to select file. The import list needs to be in .CSV format, and if you have the list in similar structures, like .xlsx or .xls, you can often easily export your list to .CSV format with just a few clicks.

Step 3: Set information required

When the file is chosen, click on next and enter the information needed:

Subscription type:

Select which of your subscription types the contacts will be opted-out from. You can either opt out of all of them at once or select specific ones.

When the opt-out was registered:

To set a date for when the opt-out was registered, you can select between two options:

  • Get the date from a column

If the import file contains information about when the opt-out was registered, you can also import this information. When choosing this option, you will select what column the data shall be fetched from in the next step.

  • Choose date

Or, if the information is lacking from the file, you can select a date from when the consent shall be valid.

Step 4: Map the column

The final step is to select which column in the imported file contains the information about the email addresses that should be opted out.

Step 5: Start the import

The last thing before starting the import is to give it a name. When set, click on Import, and the import will start. The import will take a few minutes, and you can follow the process in the overview.

When the import is finished, digits with the total items imported will appear, together with eventual errors. Errors could, for example, occur if there was too little information about a customer, and due to this, it wasn't possible to import the contact.

You can see more information about it if you click on the line for an import. For example, see the type of import or the subscription type chosen.

πŸŽ‰ You're done, your audience is updated, and the imported contacts have been opt-outed.
