Export to file allows you to export data to CSV or Excel (xlsx) format. The file will be sent to your email address with a transfer link valid for 24 hours.

Step 1: Select the target group

Click here or go to Audience → Overview.

Open the filter button to the left to select the target group you want to export. When you are finished, click Save, and you will be redirected to the Audience Overview.

To learn more about the audience filter, click here.

Step 2: Make the export

The Export button is found to the right. Click on it, followed by Export to file, and fill in the following:

  • Name

  • File type

  • List type

Once ready, click Export, and the file will be sent to your email address as a link. The transfer link is available for 24 hours before it expires.

List type options

Here, you choose what data points to export. We have three pre-defined export templates, each described below, and a custom option where you can select your preferred data points to export.

Email addresses

This template is functional when the export is meant for email send-outs. The export includes all contacts' names, addresses, birth dates, and email addresses.

Contacts with multiple known email addresses will have multiple lines in the export - one for each email address. If you prefer to have all email addresses for one contact in the same row, choose the Custom option.

Phone numbers

This template is useful when the export is meant for SMS send-outs or call lists. It includes the name, address, birth date, and phone numbers of all contacts in the export.

Contacts with multiple known phone numbers will have multiple lines in the export - one for each phone number. If you prefer to have all phone numbers for one contact in the same row, choose the Custom option.

Addresses

This template is useful when the export is meant for postal send-outs. It includes the name, address, and birth date of all contacts in the export.

Custom export

With the custom export, you can customize the export to fit your needs. You have three options to customize your export:

  1. Fields
Specify what data to include in the export. The selected areas will be included as separate columns in the file.

  2. Unwind (optional)
A contact can have multiple phone numbers or email addresses. By default, each contact's email or phone number will be represented in a single row in the export file, where the values of a field with multiple values are combined into one column. If such a field is included in the export, you can choose to unwind one of those fields.

If a field is selected for unwind, then a contact will be represented by multiple lines in the export - one for each value in the area that was chosen to unwind. The unwinded field will differ on each line, but all other columns will be the same.

  3. Ignore empty (optional)
In some cases, you might want to exclude contacts if a specific value is missing on the contact. If you ignore empty birth dates, contacts with unknown birth dates will be excluded from the export.
