A purchase is a great opportunity to collect consent from the person making the purchase. Most ticketing- and booking systems we integrate with offer the opportunity collect a "freely given" consent as part of the checkout flow. Further can the purchase in it self signal an interest in your business and could grant a legitimate interest consent as well.

Maybe you want to assign a legitimate interest consent to the "Marketing" subscription for anyone making a purchase, and further assign a freely given consent to the "Newsletter" subscription type for everyone who explicitly opt-in to it as part of your checkout process.

Under Settings / Privacy & GDPR / Consent you can configure what type of consents to create when an order is imported.

Assign freely given consents

When a customer explicitly accept marketing or other information from you, as part of the purchase, you can map that intention to your consent model i MarketHype.

Let's say you have a checkbox in your order checkout process where the customer can check "Please send me exclusive offers and updates". Since the customer explicitly agreed to receive offers and updates from you, you can assign a freely given consent to them. Now, in MarketHype you can choose which of your subscription types you want to assign to contacts checking that checkbox, for example you might want to assign consent to both "Marketing" and "Newsletter" subscription type for all explicit opt-ins.

When you have setup which subscription types you want to assign freely given consents for, we will automatically create those consents for you whenever we import an order where the customer explicitly agreed to your communication as part of the purchase.

Assign legitimate interest consents

A customer making a purchase from you shows an interest in your business and your products, simply by making the purchase. In some situations, a purchase can therefore be enough to assign a legitimate interest consent to that customer.

Let's say you've consulted with your legal advisor and agreed that for your business it would be okay to send marketing information to your customers for up to 12 months after a purchase, on the basis of legitimate interest (as long as they have not unsubscribed). You could then configure the application to automatically assign a legitimate interest consent to one of your subscription types, "Marketing" for example.

When you've configured which subscription types you want to create legitimate interest consents for, we will automatically create those consents for you whenever we import an order.

More on how you define the validity time of your legitimate interest consent is available here.
