Event tags are a way for you to categorize your events to use them in MarketHypes action features/functions:

  • In the audience filter

  • To create segments

  • As triggers for event automations

  • To communicate through emails or SMS

An event can have more than one tag; you'll find all tags for an event underneath the event description.

You can also search for events with a specific event tag. This can be done from the general overview for Events, next to the search field.

Option 1: Tag your events in your ticketing system

Upcoming events

Having this as a habit will be time-saving and more efficient. If you tag your events when setting them up in your ticket system, they will automatically be imported to your MarketHype together with the event information.

Event tags are updated once every day.

To tag events from your ticket system, look for these terms:

AXS - Tags

Tickster - Tags

Tixly - Categories

TicketMaster - Genre

Past events

This only works for upcoming events. Passed events are frozen and, therefore, not updated with new event tags. Passed events can only be marked with tags directly in MarketHype.

For TicketMaster customers

TicketMaster only works with default tags/genres, so you cannot create your own. So, as a TicketMaster customer, we recommend that you tag your events directly in MarketHype. Both upcoming and passed ones.

ℹ️ If you had set event tags in your ticket system before you started with MarketHype, these tags will follow when we make the first import. This works for both upcoming and passed events.

Option 2: Tag your events in MarketHype

Upcoming events

Good to know before you start with this option is that you won't be able to work with both options 1 and 2 for upcoming events. The system will only allow one way as the right way. From the start, we listen to your ticketing system. But, if you start to add event tags on an upcoming event directly in MarketHype, the system will stop and don't pick up new event tags from the ticketing system for that specific event anymore. But you can always continue to tag the event in MarketHype.

Past events

However, as passed, events are frozen and will not update with new event tags set in your Ticketing system. Passed events can, therefore, only be marked with tags directly in MarketHype.

There are two ways to tag your events in MarketHype. Both start in MarketHype → Events.

From the general overview

From here, you can tag one or several events with the same tag simultaneously. Select all relevant events in the upper left corner of each event card, and three icons will appear at the bottom of the screen, where the second one is called Edit tags.

When selecting Edit tags, you will see all tags that all selected events already have. To give them new ones, use the Type to add... field to find existing ones or create a new tag.

You will also be able to delete event tags from all selected events by hovering over the actual tag and choosing Remove.

If you type in a tag name that doesn't exist in MarketHype, the option New tag: tag name will appear and make it available for you to create.

From a specific event

This option only allows you to tag one event at a time. When entering a specific event, you find the Actions button to the left; click on it to find Edit tags.
